Jenny Cross Front
5oo4 Jenny Cross Front top and Tank
I’m in love with cross-front anything! I like the convenient access, how it dresses up the look of an outfit and how it opens up the matching or contrasting modesty tank possibilities!
The Jenny from 5oo4 is another great option for cross-front patterns. This one has a combination of characteristics I haven’t found elsewhere.
Like most 5oo4 patterns it has a FBA pattern piece so you can skip right to cutting your fabric, no need to do a full bust adjustment.
I also love the tulip shaped hem. I have been wanting to join in on that trend and now I can!
The pattern comes with it’s own tank top you can wear underneath. Even the tank top has it’s own FBA pattern pieces.
There’s instructions for tacking the front together too if you prefer to go without the tank but fear it falling open. I didn’t tack mine and I’m still able to wear it without the tank and haven’t had any issues with it coming open.
I hacked my tank to be only half length so that it’s easy to pull up. I learned how much I like this method with the Hey Babie pattern.
To shorten the tank, I just measured down from the neckline, selected my desired length and trimmed the tank bodice pattern pieces. Then I measured the width of the now shortened bodice and multiplied by .85 to make a band. I put the measurement on the arm band pattern piece so I can just fold it over and not have to cut a new pattern piece.
The top and tank go perfectly together because the fabric comes in a bundle from Amelia Lane Designs.
It’s called the Charlotte bundle. Both fabrics are DBP. The Charlotte fabric is a 1.5 yard cut and that was perfect for my size 2xl. I used one of the two included one yard cuts of heathered double brushed poly for the tank underneath.
This top would be great for nursing – it has excellent pull down access and with the cropped tank, you have pull up modesty as well. I’m adding it to my list of nursing favorites! (See my whole favorites list here!)
5oo4 is one of my favorite designers. The built in FBA is really convenient, the patterns are reliable and innovative. Check out my other 5oo4 makes here: https://kittymakesit.com/category/5oo4/
