Lucky Pinspiration

Ellie and Mac Lucky Girl

Ellie and Mac Be Bold

Every season Ellie and Mac has a pinspiration challenge. The idea is to recreate something you’ve admired on the internet. I chose this halter neck dress in yellow floral liverpool.

I used Victoria Liverpool fabric from Amelia Lane Designs and borrowed parts from the Ellie and Mac Lucky Girl and Ellie and Mac Be Bold patterns.

First I raised the shoulder lines a bit and the neckline a lot on the lucky girl raglan bodice, allowing for me to hem the shoulders and add a casing at the neck.

I also cut the lucky girl bodice off at the waist.

I used the Be Bold skirt and attachment method but I gave the back a little bit of a longer hemline to account for my rear-end. I kept the side seams the same length adding just to the center back

I measured my neck and estimated how much neckband I would need for it to fit where I wanted but have enough stretch to get over my head. I did a double fold binding method.

I attached directly to the back bodice.

Then I put the neckbinding inside the front bodice, folded over and hemmed to making a neck casing so that I could pull it down to have some gathering in the front.

I had already attached my skirt but I left an opening in the casing to thread my elastic through using a bodkin.

I ordered the same belt as my pinspiration photo, though it doesn’t show up as well in my photos.
