Rebel Raglan
My husband lives in hoodies. I’m constantly out to find him the best hoodie.
My latest attempt to please him is the Rebel Raglan from Wardrobe by Me.
He really likes this one. He says it’s the closest I’ve gotten to his favorite Carhart store bought workwear.
It’s a raglan style which makes it a quick sew. The pocket assembly made sense too. I was able to do it on my coverstitch easy peasy.
I’m glad I know how to put the pocket on, because that means I’ll be able to put it back on after he puts 200 pounds of wrenches in it or whatever it is that he does to rip the kangaroo pocket off every hoodie he owns.
I liked that the finished measurements are provided. Christina (the designer behind Wardrobe by Me) Suggested in order to adjust for height, I use the finished measurement chart to grade sides. So I just made him an XL width but L length. I’m so used to slashing and spreading with women’s patterns. This was way easy!
The hood band is a nice detail too.
It’s all about fabric choice
His favorite part is the fabric. This is the brushed french terry from Surge. It’s so thick and warm!
I have a french terry addiction. I participated in pretty much every French Terry pre-order I could find this Fall across all the companies. They’ve all arrived and they’re all so different. So far the Surge French Terry for this hoodie is my favorite. I wasn’t sure how I’d like the loops (bigger than others) but turns out, I love it. It’s the warmest! It has enough stretch to be comfortable, but more structure so it doesn’t stretch out while wearing.
He does a lot of work outside on our property and this has been perfect for our chilly weather.
I used solid cotton lycra from Elevated Fashion Fabrics for the cuffs, waistband and hood accent band.
