Sheila
Sheila Everyday dress and top by 5 Out Of 4 Patterns
5oo4 recently began a “basics line”. They’re good for beginners because they’re simple patterns designed to have great fit and not too many options to get confusing (you know when there are so many lines on the pattern you need a highlighter to find your path through the maze?).
For those that don’t consider themselves beginners (my neckband right now says different, but I’m calling myself intermediate!) these patterns are a hackers paradise! (another term that means something different to sewists than techies!)
The fit is spot on, so you can build onto it whatever you’re looking for.
This version is rayon spandex from Sincerely Rylee. The sleeves are a little loose but this was corrected during testing.
Here’s my final version in Monroe brushed poly from Amelia Lane Designs.
I grade from an XL FBA bodice to 2XL hip and sort of in between at the waist. 5oo4 is so consistent that I am able to know exactly how to draw my grading between sizes because it’s the same across patterns and even designers.
I included my side by side in the same fabric so you can see more ease in the Sheila compared to her sister, Michelle.
Did you know Michelle has a sister? Just like how Mandy and Sara are the two basic line tanks (Mandy top and Sara dress), Michelle has an S-dress, Sheila! Here’s a comparison of them in the same fabric.
