Patterns for Pirates is where I started sewing clothes, as I think a lot of us did. I personally, love the patterns. I’ve found the fit to be reliable, the designs simple but on-trend. The simplicity also is what allowed me to feel comfortable to start mashing and hacking.

A basic tee that fits with no mods is a great find, it fits like it’s meant for me. This is a scoop neck, long sleeve, cuffed in solid black cotton lycra from Elevated Fashion Fabrics. The sleeves and neck are licensed Star Wars cotton lycra from JoAnns.

To match, I made husband one in the same fabrics, cuffed long sleeves as well.

The Star Wars graphics tied the look together. The files are free from Katy McKinley, the maker behind Thread and Grain (you might have seen my threads of the month from her?)

I especially like the porg file (Friends not Food). We are big sci-fi fans, Star Trek and Star Wars alike but as vegans, watching Chewy barbeque a porg was so tough! Glad I wasn’t alone in that! I let my husband pick which graphic he wanted and he claimed the porg!

I thought the “Big Deal in the Resistance” was perfect for me since I was giving my two week’s notice at work right around the time I sewed this up!

I cut both files with Siser Easyweed (so much quicker to peel than other vinyls) on my older Cricut. It was a really quick, after work project.

I also made myself a quick basic tee with the higher neckline using a 1 yard rayon spandex remnant from JoAnns and a yard of light jersey I got in an Autumn Box from Elevated Fashion Fabrics.
