Camilla

Camilla by 5 Out Of 4

Amelia Lane Designs is stocking a new base just in time for spring! ITY is now in stock.

If you haven’t worked with ITY before, it’s stretchy like DBP, but slick and silky like SBP. It’s very light weight, which gives it good drape.

I thought it would be perfect for a Camilla dress by 5 Out Of 4.

I like this pattern for the cowl that dresses it up, but the simplicity of the dress (no separate bodice and skirt) that makes it a quick sew. The cowl is also very pull down friendly for nursing and there is a maternity bodice included in the pattern as well.

The Camilla pattern is great as a top too! I just made this one with the heavy weight rayon spandex fabric from Amelia Lane Designs!

It matches my husband’s 5oo4 Rocky Tee that I made him too.

Edit to add- Camilla Cowl Adjustment

I feel like the cowl on Camilla might not fit me EXACTLY right. I think I might need to deepen it just a tad to have it sit correctly (maybe I have tall shoulders, or low boobs I guess?)

So here’s what I did –

First I added some height to the pattern because I wanted a few more pleats. It seems weird to add length/height to do that, but see the letters on the left side? Those are where your pleats end up. So in order to have a few more pleats, I need to add some space there

Then I added some width to my neckline to extend it out which will make it fall deeper into my chest. This would also make it easier for pull down nursing or displaying some colorblocking with a half tank underneath like I did with the Halla Madeline. Just be sure not to lose track of the armcye so that you know where to attach the sleeve.

Here’s my final adjusted pattern. I dropped the neck super low. As I make more variations, I might decide to fold that over to be less dramatic and depending on my fabric choice.

I used Coral ITY from Amelia Lane Designs and included the hem band option. I paired with a 5oo4 Virginia skirt in Berlin Liverpool from Amelia Lane Designs.
