Pinspiration Inspiration
Ellie and Mac is kicking off the year with a Pinspiration challenge. Basically, you find a picture on the internet of an outfit you love and you recreate it!
Here’s mine!
I used the Ellie and Mac Going Home Raglan to recreate the look I found online!
The Boulder Hacci Knit from Amelia Lane Designs is actually much more green than it looks in my photo, so the match is closer.
Also, I’ll be honest and let you know, the cowl would match a lot better had I not accidentally put it on sideways. I am still debating if I am going to take it off and correct it. Nobody’s perfect, surely not me!
What I learned:
I’ve seen amazingly executed pinspirations and I am just in awe!
I went to the internet to try and find what I wanted (I’ll be honest, my inspiration board is other sewists’ work, not fashion models!) and I was overwhelmed. I struggled to find something that I would wear and had the patterns/fabric/skills to recreate.
I tried narrowing it down by type – raglan, dress, cowl, etc. but because I was looking for exact matches and not just inspiration, I couldn’t find anything.
So I worked backards. I knew I wanted to use the Boulder fabric because it’s so soft! It’s totally unlike other hacci. It’s so smooth, it’s almost DBP.
Once I added “green” to the search, my perfect pin popped right up!
