Good Vibes Joggers
There’s no such thing as too many comfortable pairs of pants!
Here’s my latest joggers – the Good Vibes Joggers from Ellie and Mac.
This pair is made with kitty cat patterned Doodles interlock fabric from JoAnns. I used solid black cotton lycra from Elevated Fashion Fabrics for the cuffs and waist band.
I know Doodles are typically a kid’s fabric, but the patterns are so cute! It doesn’t have enough recovery for the fitted kinds of clothes I wear, but for joggers, it works as long as the bands are something with good recovery (high lycra/spandex content – usually 95 cotton/5 spandex). I always have a stack of solids from Elevated Fashion Fabrics on hand for neckbands and cuffs for that reason.
By the way, I’m wearing my Favorite Sweater with the Good Vibes Joggers in the photos on this page.
This pair is made with the same cotton lycra for the bands, but with the Elevated Fashion Fabrics velour. This fabric is nice and warm.
I am not sure what happened here with the different colors. I think it’s just the texture of the fabric and will even out once they’re washed. It could also be dust, this fabric has been sitting on a shelf for over a year. I’m working my way through my stash!
How do these joggers compare? They’re similar to most other joggers in that they have a yoga waist option, cuffs and a relatively fitted shape. I find this pair fits my calves better than the Caritas with no adjustment. My calves are probably on the larger end for my size, so I would say these are less fitted than the Caritas.
The waist is a little lower than the Caritas which have the full portlanders waist. The yoga waist band is narrow with instructions on how to widen it.
The pockets are very different. I opted for no pockets in these, but the pockets are zippered versus the caritas are more like scoop pockets. Caritas also have a draw string option whereas these have an elastic waist option.
I would also say that I love Ellie and Mac for having a wide range of sizes. My doodles pair is made as a normal 2x without adjustment. But I found I wanted a bit more height in the back center. So I graded up to about a 4x to accommodate my rear. Having the sizes for options was a real benefit.
I’ve been making a lot of Ellie and Mac patterns lately. The 2XL fits me so well, I only adjust a tiny bit for height. The overlapping pages give me confidence that I assembled them correctly and leaves me room to do that tiny height adjustment! They’re almost always having a sale. Patterns release at a discount, on top of the sale price! So they’re usually $3.85 on the day I blog them. On Wednesdays, the patterns rotate through being on sale for $1 (Wacky Wednesday).
