Hey Babie
So, the results are in and the Halla Hey Babie is actually my go-to pattern! Which is totally unexpected.
I wasn’t sure and missed like three sales before I finally decided to buy it.
The concept is what won be over. The access is just so easy, top down, cami up.
I’m so glad I finally bought this pattern. It turned out to be so versatile and now it’s my absolute go-to for comfort!
I can dress it up for work with a pencil skirt (and excellent stripe matching I might add!) This is a jersey fabric from Hobby Lobby with solid cotton lycra for the bands and cami (needs good recovery to be stretched back and forth) from Elevated Fashion Fabrics
or when Katy needed models for her always-perfect and funny SVG files over at Thread and Grain but it fell during the same weekend I was testing another pattern, I was able to make three in an afternoon! All using solid cotton lycras from EFF (they go on sale for $5.85/yard!) and Siser Easyweed vinyl cut on my older Cricut Explore (I haven’t upgraded to the Maker yet). The Siser vinyl really holds up. Especially if you apply with a heat press.
All of mine are the 3/4 sleeve, banded with the nursing cami option. If something is working for you, why mess with it? But the pattern has tons more combinations to find your perfect one.
Here are some of my Thread and Grain modeling attempts!
I used Picot Elastic from Sincerely Rylee for the neck band on both the cami and the top. The trim gives it a store-bought look and was even easier than cutting bands!
This SVG file came from Etsy and is perfect for wearing to the work-sponsored night at the local baseball game! Everyone needs to know just how much I know about the sport! I also banded the sleeves on this one for a pop of color!

I enjoy this pattern so much that I actually used it to hack a new dress! Here’s how.

They don’t change the price you pay, but sometimes I get a small cut of the purchase you were going to make anyway and that goes to fund my next project to share with you 🙂 If I inspired you with my post, sharing this post or using my link is a great way to show your appreciation!
And since I appreciate you for sticking around and reading my post, please enjoy this outtake – turns out having a black cat does not necessarily mean you’ll have a model for your witch-themed photos!
Pattern Stats –
Maternity possible: Yes! You could totally wear the banded option (shown in this post) with stretchy fabric and no mod needed. The pattern also has a ruched option built in.
Nursing possible: Yes! Not a hack, it’s built right into the pattern
