Everywhere Dress

When I signed up for this test, I didn’t realize how much fun I was going to have with the pattern. Ellie and Mac has really been keeping me interested with some color block coolness. Everywhere dress is a great scrap buster too.

For this one, I used some leftover black scuba on the yoke that I believe was from Surge Fabrics. It’s a scrap leftover from a MCDI peplum top.

The sleeves are nude lace from Elevated Fashion Fabrics that I also used for the “lace up” back on the 5oo4 Roxanne.

The body of the dress is squeezed from one yard of single brushed poly from Sly Fox Fabrics. I really wanted more of this print, it’s so pretty. I had a bunch in my cart and the system automatically cut me down to one yard and I hurried to click check out before I lost the last of it. I actually love how silky the non-brushed side of single brushed polyester is.

This dress is so flattering but comfortable. Not clingy to where I’m worrying about posture.

I also made a tunic version.

This is really just a shorter version of the dress. The tunic on this pattern doesn’t require a separate pattern piece. I just folded my dress pattern piece up to the tunic line.

It’s all about fabric choice

You can really see how fabric plays a role in the look. This is the same dress but because I used cotton lycra (from Girl Charlee) for the tunic version, it doesn’t drape the same. Cotton lycra is a more structured fabric than polyester, so it’s a little more flared in the waist than draping like the poly.

The yoke is made of solid black cotton lycra from Elevated Fashion Fabrics.

I used the arched bodice cut line for the dress and the square yoke cut line for the tunic. I like to try all the various options on a pattern when I can. Ellie and Mac manages to pack different looks into the same pattern and put it on sale.

I’ve been making a lot of Ellie and Mac patterns lately. The 2XL fits me so well, I only adjust a tiny bit for height. The overlapping pages give me confidence that I assembled them correctly and leaves me room to do that tiny height adjustment! They’re almost always having a sale. Patterns release at a discount, on top of the sale price! So they’re usually $3.85 on the day I blog them. On Wednesdays, the patterns rotate through being on sale for $1 (Wacky Wednesday).
