Lucky Girl

Lucky Girl by Ellie and Mac

I used the Anniston Hacci Sweater Knit and the Olive DBP from Amelia Lane Designs to make my Lucky Girl dress by Ellie and Mac.

I went for the tie option. The banded option is much quicker, but I wanted the look of the tie.

It calls for tape, but I didn’t have any handy, so I used this basic lightweight interfacing. I buy the whole bolt whenever I see that it’s 70% off at JoAnns. The bolt costs me about $12. I cut off little strips about a half inch wide with my rotary cutter.

I brought the strips over to my pattern pieces and I cut them to the length needed as a replacement for the tape. Then I ironed them in place (smooth side up)

I folded over so I had a perfect 1/2″ hem without having to measure and this makes it a little stiffer so it’s easier to work with.

I topstitched it down with my coverstitch, working in the round to enclose my serger tail from the previous photo.

Here’s my finished product! I’m pretty happy with it!

Other than substituting interfacing for iron-on-tape, I just made a straight 2XL with my usual added 1″ of height. Ellie and Mac patterns fit me really great without adjustment.
