Michelle Fitted Tee by 5 Out Of 4 Patterns
Edit to add:
My most recent Michelle tee – sleeves about an inch below the elbow line, XL FBA graded to a 3xl-ish hip (just outside the 2xl) in a shiny purple tricot. Paired with candy yoga pants (see post)
5oo4 recently began a “basics line”. They’re good for beginners because they’re simple patterns designed to have great fit and not too many options to get confusing (you know when there are so many lines on the pattern you need a highlighter to find your path through the maze?).
For those that don’t consider themselves beginners (my neckband right now says different, but I’m calling myself intermediate!) these patterns are a hackers paradise! (another term that means something different to sewists than techies!)
The fit is spot on, so you can build onto it whatever you’re looking for.
(See blog post about the leggings here)
Today what I needed what a fitted athletic shirt with some UPF because my shoulders get super burned during Vinyassa in the Vineyard (our local outdoor yoga). I wanted the fitted style because that way the neck or hips don’t ride up on me during my downward dog. There’s nothing worse than trying to “set your gaze” and being able to see nothing but the inside of your neckband. This stays in place!
My transition from down-dog to up dog this morning had barely any of my usual wardrobe malfunction!
My Camatkarasana (Wild-thing) transition is still a hot mess, but that’s not my outfit’s fault!
I mean, I get there…. it’s just not graceful…
But it’s the journey, not the destination, right? Just thanking myself for showing up on my mat.
Having bright cheerful fabrics to wear makes it fun to get going on weekend mornings too! I’m wearing the Michelle Tee in orange pop tactel – it’s thick and moisture wicking, just like supplex and even has some UV protection! The “enamel blue” stripe on my Apostrophe Patterns MyFit leggings is also tactel. The “kirby” printed fabric is a quick-dry nylon athletic fabric. They’re all from Amelia Lane Designs.
The Michelle tee is nice for everyday kinds of wear too! This is a SUPER SOFT (like feels like it’s been through the dryer a million times already and yet it’s only once!) rayon spandex from Amelia Lane Designs. I used coral DBP for the neckband. This Michelle tee is 3/4 sleeve and tunic length.
Another version in rayon spandex, tunic length, long sleeve.
Did you know Michelle has a sister? Just like how Mandy and Sara are the two basic line tanks (Mandy top and Sara dress), Michelle has an S-dress, Sheila! Here’s a comparison of them in the same fabric.
