Swim Trunks
Men’s Swimtrunks by 5 Out Of 4 Patterns
I’ve been using this pattern a bunch lately and I realized it doesn’t have it’s own blog! Time to fix that!
I have been making the 5oo4 swim trunks with everything except the boardshort material you’d think of! They’re actually really great, simple shorts for my husband. He rarely asks for anything, but he said he needed some new shorts… he didn’t need to ask twice! Well, maybe for the new seat for his tractor, he’s going to have to keep asking for that one lol.
This latest pair is the new scuba fabric from Amelia Lane Designs. It’s not like normal scuba, it’s more like a ponte but slick like the inside of liverpool. He likes it a lot because they’re cool to the touch and they have enough structure they don’t cling. He runs really hot during summer.
I can ALMOST squeeze the size large out of one yard of fabric. I eliminated the inside liner at his request. I also left off the faux fly so that I can get the legs side by side and the waist band below. If I only put pockets in one side I would be able to do it in one yard, but the second pair of pockets pushes me into the second yard. He’s kind of obsessed with pockets, so 2 yards it is!
Works out because I was able to get this pair of Seamingly Smitten French Market Shorts (blog post) for me from his scrap!
This is the first time blogging them because they’re usually part of another blog post – because my blog is about me! Haha, so I have been putting his shorts into whatever I’m blogging about for myself, but I guess it’s his 15 minutes of fame today!
This pair was included in my blog post about the Agility tank – I used Ivy tricot from Amelia Lane Designs! This is an athletic/swim fabric so he could actually wear these as swim trunks! Check out the Agility blog for more about why he would need athletic and swim in the same outfit 🙂
Here’s a hint 🙂
This pair was part of his capsule for the Getaway With ALD Summer Capsule Challenge. I used lightweight athletic fabric in Steel from Amelia Lane Designs. I included the faux fly on this option. I really like the look and it wasn’t difficult, I just like to hoard fabric!
This pair was also part of the Rebecca Page Freedom of Summer Blog Tour
